Patti Smith at the Palau
The Palau de la Musica is a big drawcard for visitors to Barcelona. I'd always associated this venue with classical music and definitely think the best way to appreciate the building is to attend a concert when you're visiting.
Last night saw Patti Smith play to a full house - bringing the seated audience to its feet. A very memorable night - Patti Smith has redefined the meaning of young with a 2 hour performance full of positive energy.
As she sang..."People got the power" and the anti war movement of the 60´s and 70´s remains just as relevant today, as do all the other social themes on her agenda.

Welcome to the BestofBarcelona blog. The website has been up and running for a while. The BestofBarcelona concept was first discussed back in 2001 - but when I picked up a copy of Bestof Mapas/Bcn the other day, I realised that the concept is universal and others are building on it.
First off there's an important difference between Bestof Mapas/Bcn - a giveaway map promoting a series of establishments and
www.bestofbarcelona.com. Theirs is a completely commercial endeavour - all the establishments have paid to advertise - defining the "best" as those who pay their bills. In contrast - the bestofbarcelona website doesn't seek advertising support from those included in its listings. In fact, most of them are unaware of the site until people visit their establishment and tell them that they are listed.
Okay, I've recently introduced some affiliate advertising - although the amazon ads have yet to generate any commissions, so I may just delete them.
Anyway, my aim with the blogspot is to add some news to the site - It's easier than updating the site itself and allows for visitors to add their comments.
